7 things I loved on the third week of March
Free zines, a new sketchbook, and Home Depot instruments
Welcome to my link roundup of things I loved this week! If you’re not interested in 7 Things, you can specifically toggle off these emails in your account settings.
Spring is officially here 🌷 I’ve been enjoying heart opening yoga flows and colorful landscape paintings to welcome the season.
A bonanza of physical zines! Truly the best kind of mail to receive.
From left to right:
A mixed media travel diary from
who mails zines every other month to paid subscribersFree zines from illustrator T.S. Cuccia, who I found through Gumroad. I mailed her my zine as a payment exchange!
A primer “On making a living as an artist” by The Creative Independent. You can download it for free or get a free print version if you mail in a self-addressed stamped envelope.
My sister and brother-in-law announced their new collaboration, Orion Bar 💫 It’ll be a retro themed bar with Korean American food and is set to open in Bushwick around May. We’ve been cooking up some fun collaborations—stay tuned!
🎹 My friends and I just scored tickets to see Hans Zimmer live this fall. In anticipation of the show, I watched this deep dive into the making of the Dune 2 soundtrack. Who knew Home Depot played such an “instrumental” role?
Counterpoint Mag has a newsletter where they interview illustrators on their process and color palettes. I enjoyed these posts with Molly McCammon and Lorena Ruiz.
A new square sketchbook for upcoming travels! This one’s by Global Art Hand Book, which I’ve used before but not in this size. It’s slightly bigger than the popular Royal Talens square sketchbook, and I love that these have a pocket.
I signed up for the next round of Flexible Office,
’s experimental digital co-working space that runs for nine weeks. Will I see any of you there?
P.S. I’ve been gathering interest for a study group for Lynda Barry’s Making Comics. If you’d like to spend an hour every month writing and drawing and making comics with other folks, fill out the form below!
Wow! Your sister is opening a bar! That's exciting!!
Thanks so much for sharing! Glad you enjoyed the zine. :)
