Ask CYOO: What do you pack for travel sketching?
Sharing my materials for my upcoming trip to London
This week I received a lovely reader question on packing art supplies for travel, which felt very timely as I am leaving on a weeklong trip to London and Bath, England with my husband. By the time you’re reading this, I’ll already be in London having lots of tea and biscuits!
For those of you new to Ask CYOO, it’s my advice column where you can ask me anything that might help you move forward in your art and life. Your question can be about art material recommendations, time management, feelings of inadequacy, or anything else coming in between you and your art making.
Now let’s dive in!
Dear CYOO,
What mediums do you pack with you when you travel?
For example: When you go to museums or go out on a full-on day trip, which pens/pencils/crayons/sketchbooks do you take and how do you pack them? Do you ever find it worth bringing gouache and watercolor, or do you stick with the Tombow water-based pens because it is just more convenient? Also, do you put everything in one pencil case?
