introducing a weekly-ish newsletter on creative input/output
Do you, like me, feel embarrassed about promoting your work?
I resurrected my blog this weekend and have really been enjoying writing for myself with no word limits or pressures as to what would work as a pithy Instagram caption or tweet. I also want people to read the things I write (these words are living in the public domain of internet data, not my private journal after all) but each time I publicize something I create, I feel tethered to my notifications—constantly refreshing, craving validation, wondering if anyone is genuinely interested or quickly bypassing the noise.
Enter the newsletter, a medium I’ve thought about using for quite some time. Whether it’s five folks (hello dear friends) or fifty or more, I think I will feel some calm in knowing my words will land into your inboxes, also a noisy space but a little less so than our social feeds, without me having to push and prod you so I can steal your eyeballs for a few minutes.
This newsletter will be sent on a weekly-ish cadence (forgiveness, please, if it’s a little more or less frequent) and cover topics like the following:
Creative experiments and routines, like The Artist’s Way
Books I’ve been reading
Progress on my current & upcoming projects (Cosmos Book Club and Modern Doing, an online magazine on work & purpose that is in gestation)
Dance routines I really love (dance is fun!!!)
Thoughts on balancing day job and side projects and hobbies while not losing my mind to oppressive capitalism
I’ll be sending out my first post later this week. Thank you for clicking on this and reading this far. Sending you love whoever and wherever you are!
In the meantime, feel free to share or forward!
