I love everything in your lineup—I was admittedly zooming in on the video while watching because the ideas are so good and I'll try them for my setup too :) Excited to see how you'll use the Hobonichi Techo Original and the photo collage idea on the month page is genius!
The logbook concept is really clever for tracking how you actualy spend time. I started something similar last month after feeling like my days were dissappearing into random scrolling, and seeing it all written down made me way more intentional. Your point about rewriting tasks forcing you to decide if they're even necessary totally clicked for me.
I'm so impressed with all your notebooks and level of documentation. This is exactly the kind of journaling/sketchbooking that I wrote about today that I have no patience to do, but admire in others 😅
LOVEDDD reading through this!!! Omg your techo kaigi questions are impeccable: "Is this honest to how I operate?" !!! such a GREAT question!!
Ooooh I wonder if I've been missing a thinking book too 💡 I will check out the video you linked! Might do some experiments on the memo pages of my Hobonichi Weeks...
I also love seeing this glimpse of your new website!! (Gah which reminds me I've needed to overhaul my own websites for over a year lol) Can't wait to see the final thingg 💖💖
Thank you!! I wanna see YOUR lineup! The thinking notebook has really helped me with ideation and writing too :) website (and the writeup about it) is coming so soon!!
I love the thought process that went into streamlining your notebook lineup. I keep saying that I'd like to get mine down to three notebooks, but I inevitably end up using a bunch of different things throughout the year like you...! Perhaps I just need to accept that notebooks come and go depending on the seasons of life.
I usually take time to parse out what I want to remember from various notebooks into my commonplace book, but I've been struggling with the insights that I come across in my morning pages practice. Ideas are great - figuring out where to "home" them until I have the energy to see to them is a different problem. It'd be interesting to read about how you tackle it in the future as you mentioned. Thanks for writing as always!
Three notebooks omg, I CANNOT BE CONTAINED! I too know myself enough to predict that I will get the itch to use something new midyear and just accept that about myself haha.
Ooh transferring to a commonplace is an interesting conundrum! I prefer moving stuff I want to "keep" to digital because of its searchability, since I know at some point I will not be referring back to a finished notebook. And I have never figured out a good system for keeping an index in a commonplace. How do you keep track within your commonplace notebook?
Now that I'm nearing 100 written pages in the commonplace book, I'm going to use one of the five pages I saved in the front for a proper index. I don't think I'm the type of person who can meticulously index every page as I go, but revisiting it in chunks may be the way so I can group similar topics on one area of the index page. I don't know if it'll work out long-term, but it's something I want to try so I can keep a semblance of organization in there.
These types of posts are my favorite! Thanks for sharing with us! I’d like to try having a few dedicated notebooks like this, but I’m a bit nervous I won’t be able to keep up with them or it’ll be another thing to “maintain” if that makes sense. I need to experiment and see what works for me. 👀 Lots of my writing happens in Notion, but I do enjoy making sprawling notes/mind maps and early stage thinking on loose paper.
I’d be curious to know how you bridge your analog and digital notes if you’re ever interested in sharing! No pressure of course!
Thanks for reading Erika! And for sure, I've gone many years with no organization around my notebooks and picking up whichever calls to me at the time! No wrong way to do it.
I'll definitely do a analog<>digital writeup soon--such a hard thing to figure out without overengineering it!
Thank you for giving such a beautiful glimpse into your world, for so much notebook inspiration and for introducing “faffing” into my world! 🤓📚🤣
Thank you Petya! I love your notebook posts as well, could just live in these kinds of conversation all day hehe. Faffing is one of my fave words!
I echo Petya’s comment!! What a fun new word! 🤩
Thanks for the shoutout, Caro!

Bulletin board looks fab!
An honor to have my pages zoomed in 🤣 I love my Techo so much, can't wait to see the chonk at the end of the year like yours! Thank you Abbey!!

It's all in the eye of the beholder! I look at your drawings Jenna and think to myself, I don't have the patience for your detailed renderings 😅
Ha, fair enough! ☺️
