I've definitely noticed this, especially in museums where maps have gone full digital! I try to pick up whatever advertising brochures I can, and many museums have amazing family guides. Otherwise I think tourist-central spots have a lot of free guides with relevant photos or ads of the places you might be visiting.
Shops and restaurants on the other hand have lots of ephemera—business cards, postcards, paper placemats, wrappers are all great!
I’m usually 50/50 on whether or not I’ll start a travel journal (some trips are so much more go go go 😬), but I wonder if “seeding” a journal with images of what I’m excited to see/do will serve to break in the book and motivate me when I arrive?!
Journaling workshops! New to your space, a veteran of traveling and journaling… now combining the two loves via mixed media collaging. So nice to be here!
Fun to see the NW in your travel journals!
Love these tips. Have you found it more difficult to find bits of ephemera, now that things are becoming more digitized?

Omg I looove this idea of seeding the journal before you leave! Please try it and I’m gonna try it myself!
This sounds like a great workshop -- but I can't make the date work. Any chance you'll be doing another version of it in the future? I hope so!
Hi Randi! It’s a total experiment so not sure, but hope to! Thanks for noting your interest, that helps a lot :)
Great to know there might be more travel
