LOVED everything about this post, Carolyn - thank you so much for sharing your process! I'd love to have a decent sketchbook habit but my pencil gets shy.... I'd love to build my confidence in sketchbooking. Terrific post!

I carry a pocket moleskine exactly for things like this and yet, I don't use it nearly as much as I should. This inspires me!

This is incredible. Especially love the analogy of the candle to flame and pencil to idea. Brilliant!

I tend to carry small sudoku puzzle books to avoid reaching for my phone, but I love this idea

So cool seeing the seeds of ideas that later became your newsletters.

I've accumulated a bunch of moleskines over the years but never thought to draw in them because of that ghosting issue. I might give it a go now because they look so great scanned in landscape.

”Not instagram worthy”- naa! Sketches is more fun to look at than a complete illustration. To see the thinking and struggle behind it, instead of the perfect version.😊

I love seeing what people capture in their notebooks and sketchbooks! Also scanning your pages is a great idea! I struggle to get good pictures of my books.

I'm reading this just after having found an old tiny sketchbook I never used. I've been sitting with it for days wondering what I might use it for, so thank you for the inspo! <3
