Love all your pages and you will have a lot to draw in Lisbon for sure 😉 food, traditional packaging, old architecture, TILES🤩, the sea, pigeons and I could go on... 😄💙
It's still one of my favourite museums from Lisbon 🥰 a few year ago when I went the building needed some restoration but the pieces are wonderful! Enjoy Carolyn ✨️
I love your thinking behind the pages; I definitely tend to cram too much onto a page as well! Thinking about negative space and having subjects just stand and breathe on their own is a fun contrast!
This is so cool, Carolyn. I’m curious if you draw in the moment you observe, or at a specific time of day? I’d love to do this but finding the time/discipline would be my challenge.
Thanks Lauren! It's a mix of both, which is what keeps it fresh without much pressure. I carry my notebook and pen around so I can draw when I have downtime, but I also take photos of people or memories I want to document to draw that night or the following morning.
Every night before going to bed, I draw a summary of my day. I started on January 1, 2023. I don't put any pressure on the quality of my drawings in these sketchbooks of drawn journal. It's very liberating. Enjoy your stay in Portugal!
Wow. You really are one of my favorite people to read. I’m so inspired by your creative bravery and the freedom in your hand. Your art warms my heart. Thanks for sharing this. I am INSPIRED NOW!
Ooh thrilling! London is the best :) See if you might want to get a Pith sketchbook at art stores like Cass Art or London Graphic Centre while you're there, many subscribers have recommended them to me! And Choosing Keeping is the most excellent shop!
I love your week in the journal. I am continuing with my collage illustrated journal although I am trying to introduce more simple drawings on each page. I am looking forward to seeing the result of your journey in the notebook.
I’m loving how diverse each page is and enjoyed seeing the different techniques/concepts you experimented with along the way!
Thank you Erika! Love to mix it up 🍥

Yes! I think I feel uncomfortable “wasting” part of a page by not filling it but the negative space is a crucial part of the drawings, isn’t it :)
Love this and all of your pages and drawings shared. Thank you for the shout out because now I know about your beautiful work! 😍
Thank you Samantha, your books and newsletter are wonderful inspiration!
this is awesome!
Thanks Chloe!

What a beautiful night routine! And no pressure in sketchbooks is definitely key. Thank you for the well wishes!
Loved all your journal pages. Even the ones that are full with no breathing space — they’re such a treat!!
So kind Shinjini, thank you!
