def a part of nature! nothing better served as a reminder than paying attention daily to wind direction, heat levels, fog activity, and natural fire breaks like a river when we were closely monitoring the fire near us the last week or so. it really served a reminder that we live within nature, not as a separate entity. i've never felt so intertwined with (and dependent on) nature as much as these past few weeks.
