Super cool to hear how you approach each type of writing!

And to get to see your sister's work!

I love to read concise pieces packed with wisdom and a personal story (though some of my favorite pieces are longer lol).

As far as writing, I'm experimenting with writing simply worded poems with deep meaning.

I love your honesty - sharing and writing your personal views on your journey and your thoughts.

And I really need to get that notions thing going! 😀 today will be the day I begin.

I think.

Maybe….

I really love the way you’ve broken down the different newsletter formats you tend to follow. It’s a fantastic recipe to follow if ever I’m writing and feeling like I’m all over the place.

The first week of 2025 I took the dive into Substacks. I was following your newsletter. But, I also found Wild Wonder for Nature Journaling. It was great to have so much inspiration. I also was following Wendy MacNaughton's Drawing Together. I found this really helpful for my normal winter doldrums. Today's newsletter was really helpful. And, as a beginner it shows me it took you many years to get where you are today. Thank you for all the the great recommendations. I really enjoyed your one page zine class last week.

Great advice! I am on Substack @pollywalkerblakemore writing essays but I am also on Medium. In addition to posting essays there I write about writing, including writing prompts. Here's a recent post if you want to take a look

This post came at the most perfect time as I only recently started my newsletter (in dec 2024) and am feeling a little stuck in only writing life updates and art musings once a month. I love the idea of having an idea database in notion!!

This was timely because I’ve been struggling with what to write for my newsletter recently. I also have a LONG list of ideas but none of them are calling to me this month. I’m going to start asking myself the two questions you shared here. Thank you :)

Wow I'm saving this, probably getting it printed to keep it as a go-to guide when I'm stuck over thinking what to write! I'm stuck at the phase where I want to write something but I'm not sure what I can write that nobody else has done better already. But like you said, think of a friend reading your Substack and I have a feeling my friends will love to read about anything I share! So thank you for this post, so so inspiring ❤️
