Love this! I also created a Summer Curriculum for myself, but I didn't really settle on a strict theme. I love the idea of doing this though, maybe for Fall :)
Sure! I gave myself a few different categories like classes. Art is a broad one, but I wanted to focus on Art History, so I'm working through books on famous artists and making a point to study the artworks that are referenced in the text. Reading The Art of Rivalry by Sebastian Smee right now and it's perfect for this. And my art assignment for the summer is to finish a small sketchbook (with only about 15 pages left, totally doable!). Another thing that's neat that I found out is that Google Arts and Culture exists and has scans/pictures of art museum collections, and some you can actually tour online. I call it my remote field trip :)
What a great idea and well researched curriculum! It also seems like a busy summer (though I also have two kids to entertain, so my summer goals have to be lighter).
Family visits and beach vacations should be fun. Mostly I’m going to enjoy my first full summer in the new area we moved to last year—see what kind of events they do, explore new museums, trails and other places. I’d like to draw some of these adventures too.
I just finished reading Mammoth by Eva Baltasar, I’m not sure if the main character achieves contentment in her solitude but it’s definitely an interesting portrait of a woman who wants to disappear.
I love the intentionality you're approaching the summer with, and the way you connected your works of art to all of the themes. It inspires me to pull together my own curriculum from the disorganized list of media I want to check out (aka I have lists scattered across my planner, phone and Libby app). Thank you for sharing!
I would!!!
Thanks Leslie! Duly noted 🫡

For sure Katie, summer can be so hectic! Do you have any fun things you're looking forward to?
