Loved hearing about your travels! Japan and Korea are at the top of my list of places I'd like to visit the most. I'm also a sucker for stationary so I'll definitely save that list of shops!
"First and last" - I'd be the same if my kids did that too. 😬 😆
That said, it's lovely. And snails have been doing the rounds on Substack the past couple of weeks. The universe is definitely trying to tell us something! 🐌🐌🐌
Thank you for sharing all those shops! I’m used to just going to Kyobo and finding everything at Hot Tracks so it’s nice to have this list. I love also going to Seoul because it’s home even tho I wasn’t born there. It’s in my DNA
What a fun trip, and nice tattoo for reminding to go slow! My favourite in Japan are the toilets, ok maybe that after the food :) I haven't explored Korea much besides Seoul, would love to go back. I agree about traveling slowly, my preferred way is to have lots of time in between sightseeing to do nothing, to just mingle and "live like the locals".

I hope you get to visit soon, Nico! They're both such wonderful countries!
Welcome home! What an epic trip. And I will share this list with my kid who is headed to Korea next month.
Ahh what a thrill for her! She's gonna have the best time!

Martin I need to know about the other snail discourse floating around! Please share with me! :D
A Substack Chat or two had snails recently (including one digital snail badge giveaway). Stuff in Notes too, which gets lost to time.
But a few posts I remember from late April, when the stars really seemed to be colliding on the gastropod front:

Kyobo is the OG!! Hot Tracks is really taking me back haha. I agree, something viscerally arises once I step foot off the airplane!
I loved reading this so much and laughed at your line about the old lady cutting you off. So real.
I didn't know about manhwa-bangs! They sound so cozy. I would have loved those as a kid.
Thank you for sharing!
Haha the old lady strode up to the counter, slapped her cash down and was ready to GO! Thank you for enjoying, Alisha 🌟
😂 I can just picture this so clearly
