Finding a sketchbook you love is no easy feat. Not only do you have to consider the paper quality (the color, weight1, grain) but also the book itself (the size, build, and amount of pages). The process of shopping around and trying different sketchbooks can be a blast, but finishing a sketchbook you don’t like is quite a drag.
Today I’ll be sharing my sketchbook superlatives based on the many I’ve tried out over the years, along with a few I didn’t end up enjoying. But before we dive into the reviews, I have something fun to share…

Here are my unofficial sketchbook awards 🏆 I mainly use mixed media sketchbooks that are nice enough for my materials to work well but not so nice that I feel scared of the page. My go to materials are ink, gouache, and colored pencil. Alright, let’s dive in!
