In spring 2023 I published my first autobiographical zine “The Dress”. This short illustrated story is about finding my wedding dress, a seemingly banal activity that ended up carrying a lot of emotional significance.
Here is a *newsletter exclusive* excerpt of its pages, so you get a taste of the story:
What kind of dress will I end up choosing? What confusion and conflicting family opinions lurk around the corner? You can find out by purchasing the zine in my shop!
“The Dress” is on sale at a discounted price of $9. It was lovingly risograph printed and hand bound by me, and I would love to mail you a copy.

Wow! I've never bought a wedding dress but, I do feel this way when I just buy clothes in general. Often I'll try things on and I'll be like "well is this the person that I am or the person that I want to be?" And it's easy to downplay our feelings by being like "well it's just clothes." but we all know it's never "just clothes" I love this way of storytelling! Your illustrations as well as hearing about your background about your mom's wedding dress is really interesting!
Imagine worrying about matching 2 wedding dresses...
My wife and I ended up doing our wedding dresses in Hoi An, Vietnam, because of their renowned tailors. Without looking at each other's dresses or giving too much away, we had to make sure they wouldn't clash or be too "samesy." It was so very stressful, but everything worked beautifully together.
