Carolyn it was so fun to read about what it was like on your end of things! And fascinating to learn that you so strongly preferred the other option. I know the feeling!

In any case I LOVE the end result, as you know. I'll be running it again in a couple weeks!

I'm so glad you love it—that's what matters most! And I love how the final turned out as well :) Can't wait to see it again and what your next personal experiment will be!

Thank you for sharing your process! I'm still attached to gouache/watercolor but I've realized I need to work in procrate more for my substack's images.

Hi Lorraine, thanks for reading! I love working in paint as well. Are you making work for your own Substack? I find as artists we usually have an archive of works that can flexibly work for all kinds of posts! But I do enjoy working in Procreate for illustrations that will need to accommodate for edits (e.g. client work or stories/books).

Yes I make work for my own writing, and it takes as long as the writing does! So it's a full process, but I noticed that the work I hold in hand just doesn't translate as easily as photography/digital (or maybe I'm assuming too much?) One of the strongest positive reactions I ever got was for a quick illustration I just photographed and uploaded, but usually the lines are too fuzzy an imperfect for my tastes.
